Kidkraft Beachfront Mansion Review

I received the Kidkraft Beachfront Mansion to review recently and it's amazing.  My girls had a dollhouse already, I'm not going to mention what kind but it doesn't compare to the quality of Kidkraft.  The previous dollhouse that my girls had didn't cost too much less than the Beachfront Mansion but it didn't last 6 months before parts started breaking.  It's made by a pretty popular company and it really is just the name that you are paying the money for.

The Kidkraft Beachfront Mansion is made of composite wood materials.  I don't know how to explain other than this dollhouse is solid.  When I received the dollhouse it was shortly before Christmas.  I had to find time to put it together without FB and her reign of terror around.  My girls were away for a night about a week before Christmas and that was my opportunity.  Although my husband thought we would just throw a few pieces together and go out for the night, I expected a little more work.

The instruction manual is 18 pages long, 16 pages of assembly and 2 pages of legal and warranty.  There are over 50 pieces to be assembled and this doesn't include all the hardware.  It was a slow start but after 2 hours it was completely assembled.  Yes, it was a lot of work and a long time, but well worth it.  Nothing good ever comes easy, right?  I can imagine the price of the dollhouse would double if it came assembled, so I'll take on that job myself no problem.

Since there was only a week left before Christmas I couldn't see giving the girls the dollhouse to get their reactions before the Christmas morning.  They wouldn't care about all of the gifts we had already gotten for them.  I don't believe that Christmas is the only time to give my girls toys but with it being so close I wanted to wait.

Of course on Christmas morning we set the Beachfront Mansion next to the tree (which is was almost as tall) with a beautiful big gold bow on it.  It was on the opposite side of the tree that the girls would see coming into the room.  Drama and Diva of course immediately ran to the Beachfront Mansion!  They could care less about any of the other gifts that were still wrapped under the tree.  Mr. Messy and I finally had to tell them to leave the dollhouse alone so they could open up the other gifts.

The girls quickly got back to playing with the Beachfront Mansion after all of the other gifts were torn open and thrown aside.  Let me give a little background.  First, you know that the girls previously (up to a week ago) had a dollhouse by a very popular brand.  Second, the girls have a playroom, which is just a bedroom with all their toys.  There is no furniture just toys and a very small television.  The dollhouse that they had up to a week ago was in this playroom.  I used to have to beg the girls (mainly Drama) to go play in their playroom so that they would be upstairs and not making noise downstairs where FB was sleeping.  I haven't had to ask them to play in their 1 time.  They love the Beachfront Mansion.  Any doll that is 12 inches fits perfectly in the Beachfront Mansion.

I recommend the Kidkraft brand to everyone!  I recommend the Kidkraft Beachfront Mansion to anyone looking for a dollhouse.  If you don't like the look of the Beachfront Mansion, Kidkraft offers several other dollhouses!  I know that I spotted some storage bins at the Kidkraft website, like the Wall Storage Unit that I will be looking to add for a little organization to the Messy House.
